    First and foremost, bass is about GROOVE. You are the glue that holds the whole band together! With teaching styles developed over 15 years of playing, Matt will make sure that when you're playing your favourite songs, it SOUNDS and FEELS amazing!

  • Technique!

    Wanna play like Flea or John Paul Jones or Victor Wooten? Their blistering speed and amazing sound comes from a deep understanding of how to most efficiently get what they want out of their instrument; we call this 'technique'. The good news is, Matt has done the work for you! By studying the greats, Matt has created himself a name as one of the most sought after bassists in Brisbane, and it's his job (and passion) to now transfer those skills onto you.

  • Music Theory!

    Music Theory is how we UNDERSTAND what we're playing. Whether you're a young beginner taking your first steps, or an advanced player stuck in a rut, being able to EXPLAIN what you're playing (rather than just hearing it) is the secret to sounding like a pro and impressing your friends. Wanna hear the cool part? It's actually super easy! Matt's mastered the act of taking this subject that daunts too many people, and making it understandable to his all of his students, from primary school rockers to adult shredlords!

The days of stuffy, boring, intimidating music lessons are over! Matt firmly believes if his students are genuinely excited to come to their lessons and pick up their instrument, their progress will always outstrip players who see it as a chore.

Matt knows he’s teaching more than just how to play great music; he’s teaching his young students life lessons that will stick with them forever and put them ahead for the rest of their life:
Love of practice, perseverance through roadblocks, discipline, and self-reflection. This is the secret sauce to succeed on bass, guitar and life.

There’s nothing quite as confidence building for young people quite like walking into a room being totally UNABLE to play something, and through their own hard work (and Matt’s guidance), leaving that room 30 minutes later blowing themselves (and their friends and family) away. This is the reality of learning bass. Every time you pick it up and focus, you get noticeably better. Magic. It feels amazing.
